Job Posting: Library Media Specialist - Baldwinsville, NY

authorSchool Library System | July 8, 2015

Elementary opening in Baldwinsville, NY this one’s worth relocating for!

Palmer Elementary School, located within the desirable Baldwinsville Central School District, is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and creative fulltime certified School Library Media Specialist (LMS).

At Palmer, the LMS will join the Building Professional Learning Community (BPLC Team) and meet weekly with classroom teachers to collaborate and develop inquiry units that not only address the state standards, but also integrate technology to maximize student learning.

The LMS will teach all grade levels K5 (approximately 430 students) and support all curricular areas in the school, as well as teach students key information literacy skills. The LMS will also share his or her expertise in curricular matters, technology integration, and available resources at staff meetings.

The LMS will have access to a plethora of available technologies: a computer lab, a class set of iPads, a class set of Chromebooks, and SmartBoards. The LMS will be supported by a full time teaching assistant and a part time library clerk.

Baldwinsville strongly supports school libraries with ample budgets, and clearly values our purpose, as we saw no decrease in library staffing or resources during the recent economic downturn. Additionally, Baldwinsville teachers have the highest salaries in the county and the second highest in the CNY region.

Applications are due by 7/17. Please fill out the application on Baldwinsville’s HR web site:

Due to a lack of certified LMS candidates, it may be worth applying if you’re almost, but not quite, done with your degree, especially if you hold a teaching certification in another area.
