Christine O’Neill, a senior at Pawling High School, will be conducting a
book signing on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 7:30 to 8:30 AM and 2:30
to 3:30 PM at the Pawling High School Library. Copies of her book,
Windwhyst, will be available for purchase ($16.22 includes tax), cash or
check only. This event is free and open to the public. An evening event
will be planned in the future.
Windwhyst was written last November as an entry in the National Novel
Writing Month Competition, a competition open to everyone which
encourages writers around the world to pen a 50,000 word opus in 30
days. Christine not only met the goal of 50,000, she more than doubled
it, coming in a 110,000 words.

Several school libraries have started purchasing
Playaway audio books for their students. There has been some discussion as to whether or not
Playaways should have a special circulating policy. For example, one suggestion was to have a permission slip go home and be signed by a parent before a student borrows one, with the agreement that it will be returned in good condition or a replacement fee will be charged.
