Millbrook School - Part-time School Library Position

Millbrook School, a small independent high-school in Dutchess County is looking for a person interested in libraries to work part-time (about twelve hours per week) assisting the director of its Flagler Library. The candidate should be either experienced in, or willing to learn, effective ways to help high-school students use print and electronic materials for research and study, working to support community service students, acquisition of new materials, and interlibrary loan. NYC School Library System Director Position

We are looking for a certified library media specialist with at least five years of experience who would like to join our team at central office and support school libraries across the City. The person in this position will be primarily responsible for overseeing library automation and the shared/union catalog, so a love of cataloging and automation is a must. Even more important is a passion for school libraries, teaching, and learning and a dedication to strengthening the impact of libraries on the students in our schools. This full-time librarian position is a very special opportunity to serve an underserved population of students in a brand-new state-of-the-art library in the South Bronx.

You would be serving a K-8 population of approximately 300 special
education students in a District 75 school.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to work well with a socio-economically and ethnically diverse population of students who also have physical and mental challenges. Although the ability to run a K-8 library is a given, excellent social skills, a warm heart, and a sense of humor will be the key to a successful library program. This is a rare opportunity for librarians wishing to serve the underserved.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This library was created through a 1.3 million dollar grant from the Robin Hood Foundation. It has every amenity you can think of including a FLEX schedule, and it is well endowed, receiving an additional $13,000 in grant funds for books last year.
