The School Library Media Section of the New York Library Association (SLMS) is currently seeking applicants for a three year position as the New York State representative to the American Association of School Librarians (AASL).
The term of office becomes effective at ALA Mid-Winter in Boston. The successful candidate will be ratified in a vote by the SLMS Executive Board.
The SLMS AASL representative has a line in the NYLA-SLMS budget which covers much of the representative’s normal expenses at the conferences. There is also reimbursement for much of the expenses incurred to attend SLMS Board meetings.

Participate before March 19 and receive a free personalized report.
AASL’s “School Libraries Count!” longitudinal survey has only one week left! Your participation is vital to ensuring an accurate reflection of nation-wide school library media programs. The survey may be accessed directly at http://aasl.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9011bdd5ff860316c0afae3f0&id=4247c86bb8&e=d751ab3f26.
Starting with 2009 participants, you will have access to pull your school’s submission and compare with the 50th, 75th and 95th percentile groups from the survey results later this year. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of this important study and gain access to your personalized report.
The number of participants between years one and two of the survey almost doubled, in large part due to the collective efforts of AASL volunteers getting the word out. We hope to double again in 2009.
Please spread the word now. The last day to complete the survey is March 12.
