Welcome
Recently the School Library System (SLS) completed a project that included updating our web site to encourage communication of news and information between the SLS office and members. The new site uses WordPress blogging software and includes several Web 2.0 communication tools:
- Instant messages
- Photo sharing
- Social bookmarking
- RSS
- Comments
- Links to other websites
If you are interested in seeing what our old site looked like go to the wayback machine on the Internet Archive site and type in www.dcboces.org/library.
This project was supported in part by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services. The project meets our 2006-2011 Plan of Service Goal: Element VIII - Communication. The project consultant was Polly Farrington of P A Farrington Associates.

I’d like to congratulate Red Hook Linden Avenue Middle School’s Patricia Byrne for helping her sixth- seventh- and eighth-graders take third place in the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s nationwide “LIVESTRONG at School ” contest. According to yesterday’s Poughkeepsie Journal, her students demonstrated “a committment to understanding cancer, how to prevent it, and the issues cancer survivors face.” The students “took time after school to participate in many LIVESTRONG-themed activities, such as depicting thoughtful messages on yellow jerseys, presenting cancer prevention tips on the morning announcements and supporting many cancer-related organizations.” WAY TO GO, PATRICIA!!!!
