I'd like to congratulate Red Hook Linden Avenue Middle School's Patricia Byrne for helping her sixth- seventh- and eighth-graders take third place in the Lance Armstrong Foundation's nationwide "LIVESTRONG at School " contest. According to yesterday's Poughkeepsie Journal, her students demonstrated "a committment to understanding cancer, how to prevent it, and the issues cancer survivors face." The students "took time after school to participate in many LIVESTRONG-themed activities, such as depicting thoughtful messages on yellow jerseys, presenting cancer prevention tips on the morning announcements and supporting many cancer-related organizations." WAY TO GO, PATRICIA!!!!
